During sessions, parents can expect a supportive, collaborative environment where we discuss your child’s challenges, strengths, and specific needs. I will help you understand how ADHD and ASC affect your child’s behaviour and daily life, and provide you with strategies to support them both at home and in social settings. Together, we will explore ways to build your child’s confidence, develop coping mechanisms, and improve their emotional regulation. I will offer practical advice on how to create a nurturing environment that allows your child to thrive. Throughout the process, you will receive guidance, accountability, and the tools needed to feel empowered and confident in your parenting journey. You’ll leave with actionable steps to better support your child and strengthen your relationship with them.
In a session, children can expect a safe and understanding space where they can talk about their experiences, challenges, and feelings. I will help them understand their neurodivergence and how it affects the way they think, feel, and interact with others. Together, we’ll work on strategies that can help them feel more confident, manage emotions, and build stronger friendships. The focus will be on discovering their unique strengths and empowering them to embrace who they are. They will also gain tools to help stay focused, organised, and cope with frustration in a way that works best for them. Each session is designed to make them feel understood, supported, and more in control of their journey.
The duration of our programmes can vary based on the individual needs and goals of each child and family. Typically, my programmes range from a few weeks to a year. I offer flexible options, including short-term intensive support and longer-term ongoing support, to ensure I meet the unique needs of each client. During the initial assessment, we will work together to create a personalised plan that outlines the recommended duration and frequency of sessions to achieve the best outcomes for your child.
It's perfectly okay if your child doesn't have a formal diagnosis of ADHD or autism. I understand that the journey to a diagnosis can be complex and lengthy. My services are designed to support children who exhibit signs of ADHD or autism, regardless of whether they have a formal diagnosis. During our initial consultation, we will work together to understand your child's unique needs and challenges. From there, we can create a personalised support plan that helps your child thrive and reach their full potential. My goal is to provide a nurturing and understanding environment where every child feels valued and supported.
I customise my support plans based on the individual needs and strengths of each child. During the initial consultation, I conduct a comprehensive assessment to understand the child's challenges and goals. This allows me to create a personalised plan that addresses their specific needs and helps them thrive.
I tailor my support for parents by actively listening to their concerns and empathising with their challenges. I provide practical strategies and share knowledge about ADHD, autism, and neurodiversity to help them make informed decisions. I empower parents to take an active role in their child's support plan and guide them on how to advocate effectively with schools and healthcare providers. This comprehensive approach ensures that parents feel confident and supported in helping their child thrive.
I am not a qualified therapist, but I am a registered nurse with many years of experience working in CAMHS services. As a neurodiversity consultant, my approach is therapeutic and neuro-affirmative. I focus on actively listening, making suggestions, and providing a safe space for constructive discussions. This helps individuals change mindsets and foster growth. While therapy often addresses deeper emotional and psychological issues, my role as a neurodiversity consultant is future-oriented and goal-focused, aiming to help children with ADHD and ASC achieve specific personal or professional objectives, develop skills, and improve performance.
I like to conduct initial assessments face-to-face whenever possible. I generally come to your home, as I find that children and young people tend to open up more and feel more at ease in their own environment. Additionally, I am happy to conduct sessions in nature; we can go for a walk, visit a coffee shop, or choose another location. However, please be aware that confidentiality cannot be guaranteed in public spaces. For added convenience and flexibility, I also offer virtual sessions, which can be conducted from the comfort of your home. This allows us to find the most comfortable and effective setting for your child's needs.
Confidentiality is of utmost importance. All information shared during sessions is kept strictly confidential and is only shared with your consent. The only exception to this is if information is disclosed which leads me to believe that someone is at risk of harm. I adhere to professional ethical standards and legal requirements to ensure your child's privacy is protected.
If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please provide at least 24 hours notice. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice will incur a fee of 50% of the session rate (£40), and no-shows will be charged the full session fee (£80). I understand that emergencies happen, and exceptions can be made in such cases. Please contact me as soon as possible if you need to cancel due to an emergency, and I will do my best to accommodate your situation.
If your child, aged 6-18, has been diagnosed with ADHD and ASC, or if you suspect they may have these conditions, you might be wondering if this approach is the right fit for them. Children with ADHD and ASC often face challenges like low self-esteem, getting bored quickly, and struggling to stay focused on tasks and routines. They may become easily frustrated when things don't go as planned, have difficulty keeping up with daily tasks, and find it hard to maintain friendships. Emotional dysregulation, procrastination, distractibility, and social or communication struggles are also common. My approach is designed to address these challenges by offering personalised support to help your child build confidence, develop coping skills, and improve social interactions. I also focus on helping your child better understand themselves in the context of their neurodivergence, empowering them to embrace their unique strengths and navigate the world with greater self-awareness. My goal is to create a supportive, understanding environment where your child can thrive, regardless of whether they have a formal diagnosis.
While I am a qualified and registered mental health professional, in my role as a neurodiversity consultant, my focus is on providing guidance, emotional support, and practical strategies to help neurodivergent individuals thrive. Self-harm is a complex issue that often requires clinical intervention, and mental health professionals, such as therapists or counsellors, are specifically trained to address its underlying causes and provide appropriate treatment. Research suggests that self-harm is a common comorbidity among neurodivergent young people, with studies indicating that up to 50% of autistic individuals engage in self-harming behaviours. In my capacity, I can complement professional mental health support by helping individuals implement recommended strategies, build self-regulation skills, and navigate challenges in a supportive, strengths-based way. If you or someone you know is struggling with self-harm, please do contact me—I can offer guidance and signpost you to appropriate mental health services and resources to ensure the right level of care and support.
I understand that financial concerns can be a barrier to accessing the support you need. My goal is to make my services as accessible as possible. In certain circumstances, I am may be able to offer reduced rates or flexible payment options to ensure that you can receive the help you need. Please reach out to discuss your situation, and we can work together to find a solution that fits your budget. I am committed to providing support without compromising on quality, and I want to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to benefit from my services.
